Did I just curse in the title?
I guess I did.
So, this is the new year. Is it going to be a happy year? Let’s see:
- The planet is burning, and people who can do something about it don’t care.
- The pandemic is destroying the world population’s immune systems but no one seems to care anymore.
- A country is genociding another one, and world leaders are looking the other way (but their populations are noticing)
- The war in Ukraine is stalling, which means more people are needlessly dying.
- China will invade Taiwan soon and Westerners who don’t care will regret not caring.
- Fascism is slowly but surely making a comeback in Europe.
- Trump may be reelected in the US.
- We’re all getting poorer and poorer because this is what end-stage capitalism does to populations.
So, yeah, I’m not sure if I can wish you all a Happy New Year without being disingenuous.
Hopefully, there will be some happy things in your private lives.
However, I need to find something positive that speaks to everyone, and I think may have found it:
Mickey Mouse is – at last – in the public domain. (only this version, though, Disney is still holding tight to the colored designs)
